Grand Prairie, of the Dallas, Ellis, and Tarrant Counties of Texas, is one of the fastest growing cities in the nation. As of the 2000 census, the city’s population was 127,427. The estimated 2007 population is 152,600. Grand Prairie consists of 71.4 square miles of land and 10.1 square miles of water.
The Grand Prairie Police Department is divided into four divisions: Police Administration, Criminal Investigations, Field Operations, and Support Services. The Department employs 211 sworn officers and 181 civilian personnel. In 2006, the Grand Prairie Police Department responded to about 319,209 calls.
