With a population of 220,186 (based on the 2006 census), Orlando is the sixth largest city in Florida. The city is home to the University of Central Florida, which has the sixth largest student enrollment in the nation. However, Orlando is perhaps best known for its tourist attractions. Walt Disney World Resort, SeaWorld, Universal Orlando Resort, and the Orange County Convention Center all attract visitors to Orlando.
The Orlando Police Department is organized into five main bureaus: Administration, Investigations, Specialized Units, Support Services, and Community Relations. The Specialized Units include, but are not limited to, Mounted Patrol (Horse), Marine Patrol, Airport Division, and SWAT. The Airport Patrol Division includes 75 sworn officers who serve the 36.4 million visitors who arrive in Orlando each year. In addition, the Department has an in-house Crime Scene Investigation (CSI) unit, and Crisis Negotiations team. The OPD has over 1,000 employees, over 700 whom are sworn officers.
