Established in 1961, the City of Port St. Lucie has grown from then, 330 citizens to over 154,000 citizens today. This sprawling community of approximately 165 square miles is located on the east coast of Florida, midway between the Miami and Orlando metropolitan areas.

The Port St. Lucie Police Department was implemented in 1980 and has established itself as one of the premier law enforcement agencies in the country. As one of the first 200 agencies achieving international accreditation, the department is the proud recipient of some of law enforcement's most prestigious awards from the International Association of Chiefs of Police, as well as other distinguished professional associations.

The Port St. Lucie Police Department utilizes the HTE/Sunguard Records Management System.
