The Washoe County Sheriff's Office is a full service law enforcement agency, the second largest in the State of Nevada. It is responsible for the operation of the consolidated county jail as well as patrol and detective functions. Management duties also include the operation of Forensic Science, Crime Lab, Records Section, Civil Process, Search and Rescue, the Incline and Gerlach substations, and numerous other smaller sections.
The agency has 741 employees - 63% are commissioned personnel and 37% are civilians. Additionally, auxiliary and volunteer units add over 450 personnel to the organizational structure. The Washoe County Sheriff’s Office serves a population of over 390,000.
