Amherst (MA) Police Department chooses Coplogic's Online Citizen Reporting System

Amherst (MA) Police Department chooses Coplogic's Online Citizen Reporting System

We are pleased to announce that the Amherst Police Department has implemented the Coplogic Desk Officer Reporting System, which will allow the 35,000 residents (approximate) to file police reports online, from their own homes. This will offer convenience and peace-of-mind to any community members whom unfortunately are the victims of lost property, vehicle burglary, identity theft, harassing phone calls, theft, vandalism, hit & run, or vehicle tampering.

Amherst citizens will now be able to log onto the internet, sign onto their local police department’s website and, from there, fill out a series of basic questions that will ultimately lead to the completion and filing of a police report online.

Not only will this process be easy for the resident, but will also result in more accurate reports for law enforcement. Furthermore, both parties will get information in the most timely manner: victims of crime will not need to wait for patrol officers to arrive; and law enforcement agencies will now be able to save hundreds of man-hours.

The transition into citizen online police reporting went seamlessly. The internet police reporting software by Coplogic is designed to work with the agency’s records management system. The Amherst Police Department uses a RMS by IMC. The ability to put reporting in the hands of the citizen acts as a supplement to the department’s records system without hiccup or delay. The Amherst Police Department experienced virtually no ramp up time.

We are excited the Amherst Police Department is utilizing the latest technology in order to better serve their community. And Coplogic is happy to offer the APD assistance in integrating the online citizen report filing system with the department’s preexisting web infrastructure. In addition to the software, Coplogic will also be providing support and updates free of charge.

Computerized online policing resources will truly better the relationship between law enforcement officials and their communities.
